Support For Students at MSDHS - Parkland, Florida

To the students at Marjorie Stoneman Douglass High School in Parkland Florida:  I support you.  Your actions, your call for change, your refusal to accept the BS that our politicians mouth so frequently.  You have voiced that which so many have been unwilling to do, pointing out the hypocrisy in our politicians hiding behind the second amendment (and lobbyists encouraging them to do so) while our children are being slaughtered in their classrooms.

I am not the only adult who is impressed.  And you will need adults as allies.  But beware of those adults who would seek to manipulate you, your passion, your intensity.  And especially those who, for their own selfish reasons, would seek to discredit you by poisoning the well of discourse, by their now-familiar tactic of relentless ad hominem attacks.  And what is the antidote to this poison?  Truth.  Speak the truth and hold fast to the truth.

Stay strong, students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.  And thank you - for your courage.  For speaking out and forcing the adults to confront that which has been avoided for so long.  Interesting that in contemporary America, so many of our leaders act like children - while our young people act like leaders.  Young people who, having faced horror and death, are not afraid to stand up for what is right.  And isn't that what America is really all about?
